The investigation continues into the death of a homeless man whose body was found near Sapperton Landing last summer.
On Aug. 16, 2014, New Westminster police reported a body had been found on the bank of the Fraser River near Sapperton Landing. Police believed the death was suspicious, and the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team was called in to determine whether he was murdered.
About three days later, the homicide team announced they were investigating the murder of 36-year-old Christian Klatt. Investigators believed he had been living in a make-shift camp on the riverbank, near where his body was found.
One year later, investigators don’t have any new information on the case, but Sgt. Stephanie Ashton, spokesperson for the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team, confirmed the investigation is still active.
“The hope is always that with time passing witnesses who may have been reluctant or unaware of their importance to this investigation, will come forward,” she wrote in an email to the Record.
