Degelder Construction Co. needs more time to complete a bridge at the Plaza 88 development.
A pedestrian bridge is being built over the SkyTrain guideway so shoppers can travel from one side of the tracks to the other to shop or access transit. The work can only be done at times when SkyTrain isn't running.
Council approved the exemption to the construction noise bylaw so the work can be done on Saturdays and Sundays from 2 to 6 a.m. from April 7 to 29.
DEVELOPMENT PROPOSED
A 28-unit residential development is proposed on Carnarvon Street.
The two lots at 216 and 218 Carnarvon St., as well as a 13-foot wide strip of land that's part of the neighbouring property, would be used to create the development site.
City staff will review the proposal and report back to council about the development variance application once an architectural and technical review is complete.
PRESSING FOR FUNDS
The Federation of Canadian Municipalities is continuing to press for funding for infrastructure improvements and housing programs.
Coun. Lorrie Williams, who is the city's representative to the federation, said these are some of the issues being addressed by the organization.
"We are one of the very few western countries that does not have a housing strategy," she said.
