The New Westminster Regional Crown approved charges against Quesnel RCMP constable, after the New Westminster Police Department completed its independent review of the incident.

The New Westminster Police Department was asked to complete an external review of an incident that occurred in a Quesnel RCMP jail cell on Oct. 16. The department began its review in late October and recently submitted its findings to Crown counsel.

According to a press release from New Westminster police, the circumstances of the incident will not be disclosed as the case is already before the courts.

Charges have been laid against Allan Slaney of the Quesnel RCMP detachment for assault causing bodily harm, stated the release.
