Need a place to rehearse new choreography or develop a new creative project? New Westminster's Eighth & Eight Creative Spaces is inviting applications for its community nights this fall.

Are you looking for space to practise your art? Whether you need a space to write some music, rehearse new choreography or develop a creative project, Eighth & Eight Creative Spaces may be able to help.

The arts centre at New Westminster’s Massey Theatre complex is inviting applications for its community nights in 2023/24.

An email from Eighth & Eight notes the community nights take place every Tuesday from 4 to 10 p.m., offering artists and art groups a chance to access spaces at the centre for free. Each group or artist can get a block of time (maximum two hours) to help them build their creative projects and hone their skills.

Participating groups are asked to take part in a maximum of two free public events or forms of public engagement, such as workshops or talks.

The free space is open to artists and groups for projects that do not involve commercial activities, paid enrolment or public showings. It's designed for groups that host their events with the same attending members each week.

Applications are now open for the September to November 2023 session (running Tuesday nights from Sept. 26 to Nov. 28). Anyone interested should fill out the online application form by Wednesday, Sept. 13.

Future community nights sessions will take place Jan. 16 to March 26, 2024 (applications open Dec. 4, 2023) and April 16 to June 25, 2024 (applications open March 4, 2024).

You can find the details and a link to the online application form at the Eighth & Eight Creative Spaces website.
