Family Services of Greater Vancouver is offering a community kitchen for parents with young children.
The six-week program, which is open to parents with children up to the age of six, will run on Thursdays from Feb. 14 to March 21 from 9: 30 a.m. to noon at Shiloh Sixth Avenue United Church, 1111 Sixth Ave. The program is free and child care is provided.
Family Services states that the community kitchen program will give participants a chance to meet other parents, try new recipes, and learn how to cook low-cost, nutritious meals for their families, how to save time and money and learn food budgeting. In addition to gaining nutritional tips (such as cooking for picky eaters or people with allergies), participants will also get help in creating a delicious meal.
Anyone interested in taking part in the com-munity kitchen or getting more information about the program can call Pat at 604-764-1358 or email [email protected].
LACROSSE TIME
New Westminster Minor Lacrosse is hoping to introduce a new generation of kids to Canada's national summer sport.
In an attempt to introduce new boys and girls to lacrosse, the association is holding introductory clinics for children aged five to 10 years of age on Feb. 20 and 27. Some freebies are also being offered to new registrants, including free shorts and free sticks (for first-time players in the novice division or younger).
The association also offers an equipment rental program for parents who may be unsure whether their children will stick with the sport.
Anyone with children aged five and up who may want to give lacrosse a try can contact www.minor bellies.com.
