City seeks daycare provider for Queensborough hub

A non-profit childcare provider is being sought to offers services in the Queensborough Community Centre.

As part of the expansion and renovation project that's underway at the facility, the city is creating a child-care hub that includes a 1,800 square foot licensed child-care facility.

Renee Chadwick, facility manager, recently told The Record that the Port Coquitlam Child Care Society was going to run the centre but had to withdraw because of timelines and conflicts with its other projects.

The City of New Westminster's request for proposals (RFP) states that occupancy of the child-care space is September.

"We are going out to RFP again. We are looking for another childcare operator," Chadwick said. "We have had lots of interest since that time."

According to the request for proposals, the child-care facility would operate from 6 a.m. to 6: 30 p.m., Monday to Friday. The space would be fully furnished and equipped by the city (with the exception of learning materials and toys) and would accommodate up to 25 children between the ages of 30 months and five years of age.
