Four members of the New Westminster Police Service's major crime unit are conducting the independent investigation into an incident in Terrace where a man in police custody sustained a head injury.
On Friday, April 21, at approximately 6 p.m., Terrace RCMP responded to a complaint of a possible impaired driver.
RCMP members arrested a 47-year-old man and took him into custody.
While in police custody, the man had to be physically restrained by the police. He suffered a head injury and was taken to the local hospital three times during the night.
Doctors then determined that the man should be transported to Royal Columbian Hospital for medical care.
STABBING UNDER INVESTIGATION
A 38-year-old man is in hospital in serious condition after an early-morning stabbing in Queensborough last week.
New Westminster police officers were called to a home in the 1300 block of Dan Lee Avenue about 3 a.m. on May 17, after receiving a report of a domestic dispute. Arriving at the residence, police found a man suffering from stab wounds.
"The male was transfrom the New Westminster Police Service. "The female suspect has not been formally charged at this time and is currently being held ported to a local area hospital for treatment while a 27-year-old female was taken into custody at the scene," said a press release at the New Westminster police office."
The police department's major crime unit is conducting the investigation, which is ongoing at this time.
It is believed that the male and female suspect knew each other.
