St. Barnabas Church's upcoming bazaar will feature all things Christmassy.
The church is holding a Christmas bazaar on Saturday, Nov. 24 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in its hall at 1010 Fifth Ave.
"It's getting all our Christmas stuff out," said Roxee Forrest, associate warden at St. Barnabas.
"They have everything Christmassy that has ever been donated."
Christmas decorations, wrap and other items will be for sale, as will hotdogs and hot chocolate. Bargain hunters are also invited to drop by the church's thrift store, which will also be open.
Proceeds from the bazaar will help fund the church's outreach programs, which include a community lunch and an emergency food cupboard.
GET INSPIRED WITH CENTURY HOUSE
An upcoming event at Century House aims to inspire.
Inspiration Day is being held on Saturday, Nov.
17 from 10: 30 a.m. to 1: 30 p.m. at Century House.
The day includes: keynote speaker Dr. Davidicus Wong (a columnist with The Record), Laughter zone 101 comedians, laughter yoga, inspirational quotes, refreshments and door prizes.

LOCAL STUDENT WINS SCHOLARSHIP
A Douglas College student has won a scholarship from the British Columbia Hospitality Foundation.
The foundation recently awarded its three culinary scholarships in conjunction with the Chefs' Table Society of British Columbia, as well as 10 additional hospitality scholarships. The scholarships are valued at $1,500 each.
Alkarim Premji, a student at Douglas College, received the Bert Konings Scholarship.
The British Columbia Hospitality Foundation is a non-profit organization that provides financial support to individuals in the hospitality community who are coping with extraordinary costs arising from a serious health crisis.
BRINGING UP BOYS IN TODAY'S WORLD
Barry MacDonald is bringing his vast knowledge of boys to the Royal City on Nov. 21.
MacDonald, an author, teacher and counsellor/coach, is speaking at Massey Theatre on Wednesday, Nov. 21 from 7 to 9 p.m. Copies of his books Boy Smarts and Boys on Target will be available for purchase and signing (payment by cheque.)
I had a chance to hear MacDonald speak a few years back and found him to be informative and engaging.
The Nov. 21 presentation will touch on topics such as: the varied needs of boys; why ADHD is over-diagnosed among boys; why 80 per cent of videogame players are boys; how we can avoid stereotyping boys; how we can help boys navigate today's cultural realities online and elsewhere; and how we can mentor boys to manage stress and become happy and productive.
