Charges have been laid against a New Westminster police officer after his police cruiser allegedly crashed into a van causing harm to the civilian driver.
Richard A. Rosenthal, chief civilian director of the Independent Investigations Office of B.C., submitted a report to Crown counsel in November regarding a collision that happened on Aug. 13.
As previously reported by The Record, a police officer was responding to a call when his police cruiser allegedly collided with a van driven by a civilian at the intersection of Harvey and Cumberland streets in Sapperton.
The civilian suffered a number of injuries and was hospitalized as a result.
Rosenthal’s report details the investigation conducted by the Independent Investigations Office of B.C. and concludes there was enough evidence to suggest the injuries incurred by the civilian met the "statutory definition of serious harm."
Crown counsel has officially charged Const. Graham Bosa with driving without due care and attention.
Bosa is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 29, 2014.
