Canada’s dance team won a first-ever gold medal for children’s small ballet group at the International Dance Organization world championships in Poland.
The Team Canada West dance group started 14th annual the jazz dance, modern and ballet-point competition with a handful of medals, including gold in the junior male jazz solo by Gregory Jungco and a first-place finish in the adult small group ballet. Jungco also earned a bronze in the modern solo.
Brianna Lannard Ghini won a bronze medal in the children’s ballet solo. Richelle Gordon and Ghini also shared a third place in the jazz duo.
Team Canada picked up more gold in the children’s and adult’s large ballet group. Team West also picked up a silver medal in the junior large group ballet.
The competition runs until Sunday, Dec. 14.
