Parenting skills, a presentation by REACH Multicultural Family Centre, at New Westminster Public Library, 716 Sixth Ave., will provide information on parenting and family relationships issues for newcomers to Canada. Difference between eastern and western styles of parenting which may present challenges for parents and youth facing a new culture will be discussed. Program runs from 1 to 3 p.m. and will be conducted in English, with translation available in French, Chichewa, Nyanja, Lingala and Swahili. TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 10 Tenancy rights information session, learn the rights and responsibilities of landlords and tenants, New Westminster Public Library, 6 to 8 p.m. Cosponsored by New Westminster Public Library and MOSAIC's settlement program. ONGOING Codependents Anonymous Freedom Group, a 12-step program for men and women who want healthier, more functional relationships with themselves and others. New Westminster Family Place drop-in at Lord Kelvin Elementary, every Thursday and Friday morning from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., 1010 Hamilton St. Drop-in includes free play, stories, songs and craft activities. Info: 604-520-3666 or www.nwfamily.bc.ca.

New Westminster Family Place, is a free family resource centre for parents with children five and under. There is a playroom filled with toys, games, puzzles and crafts and staffed by early childhood educators and a family support worker. There is a parents' room for relaxing, and parenting classes are available.

ESL Conversation Circles at the library, drop-ins for adults who want to meet people and practise speaking English. Session for all adults take place every Saturday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.; sessions for women only take place every Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. (children are welcome).
