Two men were arrested Friday after a Burnaby credit union was robbed.

Just after 2 p.m., a Burnaby RCMP officer noticed two men acting suspiciously near the intersection of Kingsway and Marlborough Avenue in the Metrotown area.

One of the men entered the VanCity Credit Union and the officer noticed him exit and get into a cab with a second man.

The police officer followed the taxi, not knowing of any offence having been committed, but was soon alerted to the fact the credit union had just been robbed.

The officer managed to get the taxi to stop just as it entered New Westminster, where the two men were arrested and a sizable amount of money was recovered.

The men now face robbery charges and police investigators are looking into whether they are also responsible for other recent robberies in the area.
