TransLink is increasing service levels to priority bus routes.
Bus service in Fall
Bus routes in New Westminster and Burnaby will get increased service as fall approaches.

As back-to-school season nears, TransLink is increasing service to multiple priority bus routes serving schools and businesses in Burnaby and New Westminster.

On Sept. 5, the No. 116 bus (Edmonds Station/Metrotown Station) will see service increase to every 10-12 minutes during weekday afternoon peak periods (up from every 12-15 minutes) and to 10-minute service between 6 and 7 a.m (up from every 12 minutes).

The No. 430 bus (Brighouse Station in Richmond to Metrotown Station) will run every 12 minutes (up from 15 minutes) during peak hours on weekday afternoons.

With direction from the Province of B.C. to better serve local students, two bus routes will also see a service increase: the No. 104 (22nd Street/Annacis Island), which will help shuttle kids from Queensborough to New Westminster Secondary School, as well as the No. 128 (Braid Station/22nd Street).

Other service improvements and adjustments include:

  • No. 106 (New Westminster Station/Edmonds Station): Every 12 minutes towards New Westminster on weekday afternoons from 2 to 3 p.m.
  • No. 25 (Brentwood Station/UBC): More service on weekday mornings and afternoons, less frequent on weekday evenings
  • No. 49 (UBC/Metrotown Station): More service on weekday afternoons, less frequent on weekday mornings and evenings

TransLink said in a press release that its ridership sits at about 75 per cent of pre-pandemic levels.
