From 8 a.m. to midnight on Monday, the most popular visitor to the Royal City was a 16-kilogram silver trophy that has more stories to it than you can imagine.

Los Angeles Kings goalie coach Bill Ranford had his day with the Stanley Cup and hundreds of local residents got to see it as it spent time at Hyack Tire and Atkinson and Terry Insurance before it stopped at Ranford's Queen's Park home.

It was at the Ranford home that many family members got a chance for some quality time with the Cup before it went to Queen's Park Arena for a charity event.

After that, it was back to the Ranford home for a catered neighbourhood event, and in the final hours before the clock struck midnight, it went to a private party at one of Vancouver's most famous hangouts.
