The River Market restaurant is preparing to hold its third annual Labour Day barbecue on Sunday, Sept. 1. "We love a good party," said Re-Up co-founder Lindsay Ferguson in a press release. "The Labour Day barbecue began as a way to thank our Founder's Crew for helping us get our dreams up and rolling, but it has turned into a much bigger celebration - of a great summer, of friends, fun, and of course, of terrific food and drinks."

This year's party is taking place on the upper floor of River Market and features slow-smoked pork, beef brisket, homemade sausages, appies, sides and dessert. The bar will be stocked with wines from sponsor Road 13 Vineyards, as well as a variety of summer beers from Parallel 49 Brewing Company.

The event includes music by River Market's resident DJ Gabsung Lim, roving performances by the Vancouver Circus School, beach party games and a meat draw. Proceeds from the bar and meat draws will go to Coun. Chuck Puchmayr's charity, A Beef With Hunger, which raises natural, tix, grass-fed cattle on a farm on Barnston Island and donates the beef to recovery houses, the food bank, Honour House and other organizations.

The Re-Up BBQ On the Beach takes place on Sunday, Sept. 1 beginning at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $50 and available at reupbbq. com or at the restaurant.
