The New Westminster Salmonbellies added some depth to its transition game with the addition of Calgary native Jesse Fehr this week.

Fehr, who was a third-round pick of the Edmonton Rush in last year's draft, played three games in his debut in the National Lacrosse League this season.

Fehr played three seasons of field lacrosse at Harvard University before moving to Duke to work on his masters, where he accompanied the Blue Devils to the NCAA final four.

The acquisition of the 25-year-old, 6-2 transition player will hope to address New Westminster's recent losing slump and help shore up a defence that is missing backenders Rory Smith and Curtis Manning this season.

Fehr is currently employed as the technical director of the Alberta Lacrosse Association.
