Farmers market managers, farmers, vendors and community partners from around B.C. will be coming to New Westminster in November.

Farmers market folks from around the province will be gathering in New Westminster next month — and you’re invited to join in the fun.

The B.C. Association of Farmers’ Markets is hosting its annual conference in New Westminster from Nov. 3 to 5, at the Inn at the Quay and Massey Theatre. Among the events will be one for the public: a PechaKucha night on the Friday evening.

PechaKucha, for the uninitiated, is a speaker presentation series that features presenters showing 20 slides for 20 seconds each; each individual talk is six minutes and 40 seconds long, and the night includes multiple presenters. This special farmers market edition will mark Volume 30 of PechaKucha New West.

The conference brings together farmers market managers, farmers, vendors and community partners from communities around B.C. Sessions and workshops run from Thursday to Saturday.

“Every year, the B.C. Farmers Market conference provides invaluable learning experiences to people that love farmers markets and who understand the importance of supporting local food production and local business,” said Wylie Bystedt, board chair of the B.C. Association of Farmers’ Markets, in a press release.

The conference theme is Rise Up: Working together from resiliency to sustainability.
