New Westminster city council gets back to work on Aug. 27 after a six-week summer hiatus.

As in past years, council has avoided scheduling meetings for several weeks in July and August. Its last meeting was on Monday, July 9 and its next meeting takes place on Monday, Aug. 27.

While councillors have had some time away from city hall, Mayor Wayne Wright has worked throughout the summer. During the council meeting break, Wright has been working with staff on the alternate approval process for borrowing funds for the civic centre project and working on plans for work to be undertaken by the city in the fall.
