Two art shows at the New Westminster Public Library are open to the public during library hours until Saturday, March 30.

At the ramp gallery, it's all floral, all the time. Richard and Kathleen Klein are showing their photos of fall and spring flowers - with a few cityscape shots thrown in for good measure.

In the reference department, the Artists in the 'Boro are hosting their first show at the library.

On display are a variety of styles and techniques by Penny Cheng, Dale Costanzo, Christine Covert, Tony Donnelly, Terry Erickson, Joann Heringer, Karen Justice, Jean Konkle, Kelly Lambert, Peter Lojewski, Wren Long, Floyd Sandiford and Garey Shergill.

The library is located at 716 Sixth Ave.

MIXED-MEDIA ARTISTS WANTED

Calling all mixed-media artists.

The Arts Council of New Westminster has put out a call to artists and artisans for artwork for a new exhibition to be hosted by the council next month.

The mixed-media exhibition is called Inspired By Words, and will feature mixed-media works that have been inspired by the written word, to "lift the spirits of the viewers by the humour, beauty, the unusual and the unexpected," according to a press release.

Artists can submit up to three original pieces that must have been completed within the last two years.

To apply for submission and for further information, visit www.artscoun cilnewwest.org, or call 604525-3244.

Registration deadline is March 25.

MOVIE SHOWTIME CORRECTION

In my last column, I wrote about the Canadian Parents for French movie series happening Thursday, March 14 and Sunday, March 17 at the New Westminster Public Library.

The article stated the films would be shown on both dates at 7 p.m., but in fact, the short films to be screened on March 17 - Les Yeux Noirs/Private Eyes, and Le Printemps de Mélie/ Molly in Springtime - will be shown at 2 p.m.

Apologies for any confusion.

Total running time for the March 17 show is 41 minutes, and the films are suitable for ages six and up.

The library is located at 716 Sixth Ave.
