It just wouldn't be an election in New Westminster without a bun-official election poll at Burger Heaven.
Burger Heaven is giving diners a chance to "vote" in its provincial election poll until May 13. When enjoying one of the restaurant's gourmet burgers, voters will have a chance to vote for their candidate in the May 14 provincial election.
According to Burger Heaven, the bun-official survey helps determine which way the electorate is "leaning," and the results are often very close to the actual election outcome. Burger Heaven has been holding election polls for 22 years.
Here are Burger Heaven's descriptions of its "hot-off-the-grill" offerings for the 2013 provincial election:
- The Christy Clark Burger - B.C. Liberal Party. This is Burger Heaven's lean-to-the-right grade-A burger, which has gone from the frying pan into the political fire over the last several months, and is striving to make a comeback in the political kitchen. Cooked by the Burger Heaven Family (first), this platter includes a dab of "point' Grey Poupon Mustard, a Liberal slab of cheese, Special CC Sauce and milder onions
- The Adrian Dix Burger - NDP. This nicely done patty of "lean-to-the-left" grade-A beef is gaining "ground" on the front left burner as it stirs the pot trying to take a "bite" out of the party currently in power. It includes strong unions (oops, onions), a slice of red tomato and a sharp slice of cheese.
- The John Cummins Burger - Conservative party. "This provincial political newcomer says 'cummin' to Burger Heaven and enjoy our very 'lean-to-the-right' grade-A beef burger," said the press release. "Cooked with a 'cummin(s)-sense attitude, this 'reformed' burger prefers no o(u)nions and enjoys a conservative slab of Delta/Richmond cheddar cheese."
- The Jane Sterk Burger - Green party. "Grilled on the back burner using clean fuel to avoid a carbon tax charge on any emissions, this Grade-A patty of beef cuts the mustard with our environmentally-conscious customer and includes a slice of organically-grown Green tomato, green lettuce and is cooked in a controlled carbon-free area," stated the press release.
"This platter has come a long way to 'ketchup' with the other parties in the political kitchen of popularity and is beginning to make some headway as it strives to get a seat in the upcoming election."
For those who haven't quite made up their minds who they'll be voting for on May 14, Burger Heaven offers the (b)un decided/other burger.
Burger Heaven is located at 77 10th St. in New Westminster.
