25 New Westminster school district employees made more than $100,000

205 school district employees made more than $75,000 in last fiscal year

This week's release of the New Westminster School District's statement of financial information revealed that 205 employees made more than $75,000 in the fiscal year that ended June 30, 2011 and 25 made more than $100,000.

Topping the list is superintendent John Woudzia, who made $159,292, plus an additional $10,993 in expenses.

Coming second is assistant superintendent Al Balanuik, who made $133,979 plus $5,681 in expenses, while the third-highest paid district employee was secretary-treasurer Brian Sommerfeldt, who made $132,153 plus $4,436 in expenses.

The district currently has 696.36 full-time equivalent employees. (Part-time employees are classified by how many hours they work, so two 0.5 employees, working half-time would equal 1.0 full-time equivalent employee). The current head count in the district is 831, with 441 teachers totalling 386.25 full-time equivalent jobs, according to the most current figures supplied by Sommerfeldt to The Record on Tuesday morning.

The rest of the top 10 highest salary earners in the district included New Westminster Secondary School principal Mary Bushman, who made $124,369 plus $56 in expenses; director of instruction Sandra Pace, who made $119,793 plus $7,674 in expenses; human resources administrative officer Bob Tamblyn, who made $119,649 plus $4,955 in expenses; student services director of instruction Janet Grant, who made $118,486 plus $5,856 in expenses; community education district principal Phil Cookson, who made $112,211 plus $716 in expenses; Lord Tweedsmuir principal Patty Farris, who made $112,096 plus $102 in expenses; and Glenbrook principal Marlene Jack, who made $112,096 plus $567 in expenses.

18. NWSS vice-principal Stephen Inniss, at $107,339 plus $485 in expenses

19. John Robson principal Karen Catherwood, at $107,339 plus $142 in expenses
