Save-On-Foods in Columbia Square opens its doors to family and friends at 6 o'clock tonight, with the official grand opening slated for tomorrow.

Store Manager George Sciberras said he's beyond excited to be at the helm.

"We have a unique location. We're getting back right to our roots because we're only three blocks from our original store that opened up 99 years ago," he said.

Sciberras predicts shopper traffic will be steady throughout the long weekend.

"I've had many people come up to me already and ask if we're open."

The expansion brings the total number of stores in New Westminster to three, with the others situated in Royal City Centre and Sapperton.

Tomorrow's festivities get underway at 7 a.m. and include face painting, sample booths and live music.
