James Woods is taking the helm of the New Westminster Chamber of Commerce.

The chamber of commerce recently elected its new executive council at its annual general meeting. Joining chair James Woods on the executive council are Christine Conway (past chair), Stan Weismiller (chair elect), Brett Pavan (treasurer) and Stephen Bruyneel (executive secretary).

“We are excited to bring such a strong team together and we are looking forward to hitting the ground running,” Woods said in a press release.

Other chamber directors include: Peter Baetsen (McLaren Trefanenko and Co.); Rowland England (Starlight Casino); Lara Graham (the New West Record); Patti Goss (Remax Advantage); Al Hyland (Douglas College); Daniel S. Lee (RBC Financial Planning); Dan Osachoff, (RBC Dominion Securties); and Rnold Smith (Successful Business Inc.)

The New Westminster Chamber of Commerce’s number one priority is to become the voice of business in New Westminster and will be doing more initiatives designed to facilitate discussion and collect data.

“It is through our new initiatives that we can form opinions based on what the business community is telling us, allowing us to represent the New Westminster business community,” Woods said. “The information gathered will allow us to become a resource by presenting that information to those who can benefit from it. New Westminster is unique and we want its business concerns to be represented both locally, and regionally, which is possible through our participation in dialogues with the B.C. Chamber of Commerce and other stakeholders.”
