A “photo walk” that’s taking place this weekend will focus on how to take better shots of family and pets.

London Drugs and Fujifilm are hosting a free photo walk event on Saturday, May 6 from 2 to 4 p.m. Anyone interested in attending the session, which will cover taking better images of family and pets, should meet at the picnic tables near the Queen’s Park spray park.

“A surprising trend has emerged in the world of photography: film cameras have made a comeback,” said a press release from London Drugs. “Despite the convenience of digital cameras, more people are turning to film cameras for a unique esthetic and tactile experience.”

According to Sony photo expert Jin Cheong, the rise in film photography can be partially attributed to nostalgia and the disconnect from instant gratification as film photos (apart from instant cameras) are not immediate.

Cheong will lead a variety of the London Drugs “photo walks” this month, and encourages people of all photography skillsets to take part.

“Photography is about connection and sharing a story,” Cheong said in a news release. “As we develop, our skills change, and these photo groups and in-store demos are a great way to learn new tips and tricks.”

London Drugs is celebrating Photo Month by offering a variety of photo walks and in-store learning demonstrations. For the month of May, customers can visit any London Drugs store to learn more, explore and take part in weekly featured deals, prizes and educational videos.
