Ann Oct. 10 event at Douglas College aims to help educate people about depression, anxiety and good mental health.

Douglas College and RBC Royal Bank are teaming up to help make folks more cyber savvy.

Detect and Protect Against Cyber Fraud is a free interactive discussion on present-day cyber fraud the security measures people can take to protect themselves. It’s taking place on Tuesday, March 19 at the Laura C. Muir Theatre at Douglas College.

“Our panel of industry specialists will decode the cyber world of smishing, phishing, vishing and social engineering,” said a notice about the event. “They will share their findings and tips on how to identify and protect yourself from scams and cyber criminals.”

Speakers for the event include: Brian Mackay, associate vice president of technology and chief information officer at Douglas College; New Westminster Police Chief Const. Dave Jones; and Denise Pratt, director of cyber awareness education for RBC Global Security. Greg Kent, RBC treasury solutions specialist, is moderating the panel.

A reception begins at 6 p.m., when attendees will be able to test their personal password and take part in an interactive quiz for prizes. The discussion takes place from 6:45 to 7:45 p.m.
