Spectrum of Hope, a movie screening at Gilmore Community School, featuring the documentary that traces the story of 10 students with autism who travel to the largest junior musical theatre festival in the world. Listen to Your Mother, live, staged-reading event giving local writers the opportunity to share their stories of motherhood, featuring New West writes and performers Janice Bannister, Amanda Buck and Vanessa Woznow. HighPower: Unfolding Beauty from Destruction, solo exhibition by local artist Kathleen Forsythe, Gallery at Queen’s Park. Opening reception on May 4 from 6 to 8 p.m. Gallery is open 1 to 8 p.m. on Wednesdays and 1 to 5 p.m. Thursdays to Sundays. The exhibition features digitally composed abstract expressionist paintings inspired by the debris from explosions at the High Power Lab at B.C. Hydro’s R&D division in Surrey.

Royal City Farmers Market seeks authors to take part in a special LitFest New West-themed market at Tipperary Park on Thursday, May 12. Authors get a tent, table and chair for their vending space, free of charge, and can also take time on the stage to read from their work.
