Way Off-Broadway Wednesdays is presenting the first episode of a new site-specific sitcom at Heritage Grill.
The fringe performance series continues on Wednesday, Jan. 30 with Episode 1 of The Dive, a new sitcom-inspired show that will be showing once a month until spring.
“Think Cheers meets reality TV,” says a press release about show featuring “a disgruntled server, a razor-tongued bartender, a fame-hungry open mic host and a slightly-too-regular customer” in a dive bar.
The Dive is a collaborative creation from Al Lafrance, Morris Bartlett, Allison Melech and Devon More.
“It’s just another day of business-as-usual in the watering hole that brings these unlikely antiheroes together – meaning that tempers flare, quirks are revealed and nearly everything goes wrong,” says the release. “After the untimely and unusual passing of Sylvia, the dive bar’s longest serving and most competent waitress, the gang searches for a replacement to fill her gigantic rock’n’roll shoes – but first, they must decide if this is a funeral or a birthday party.”
Admission to Way Off-Broadway Wednesdays shows is by donation, and table service is available. Reservations are recommended at 604-759-0819. Showtime is 7 p.m., with doors opening at 6:30 p.m.
