As you’re enjoying the waning days of summer this weekend, be sure to swing by Royal City Centre mall to catch the next two performers in the Uptown Unplugged series.

Uptown Unplugged is a music series staged by the Arts Council of New Westminster, which brings a variety of performers to the stage at the mall from noon to 2 p.m. on weekends.

On Saturday, Aug. 21, you can hear the country-folk-rock sounds of Chris and Justin O'Connor, who bring the flavour of the East Coast to their performances.

On Saturday, Aug. 27, you can hear the folk stylings of Jayne Trimble, a solo musician hailing from the coastal village of Coney Island, Ireland.

“Her songs are as sweeping as the coastal winds that shaped her childhood,” says a press release. “Trimble’s music is traditional folk with a twist of the psychedelic; a feast of flatpicking, old fingerstyle guitar and pure vocals.”

On Sunday. Aug. 28, you can hear Katie and Peter Chow.

“Their paths met one fateful day and their mutual passion for music brought them together,” says the release. “Since then, they have enjoyed entertaining friends, family and strangers through their sweet harmonies and positive vibes.”

The series is also scheduled to continue into September, with a just-released performer lineup that includes Barry Wilson on Sept. 3 and Emma Toth on Sept. 4.

Trimble returns on Sept. 10, with Jeff Neufeld lined up for Sept. 11. The following weekend, it’s Katie and Peter Chow on Saturday and the Cranky Molluscs on Sunday, with Joline Baylis and Mike Dunbar rounding out the final weekend.

Royal City Centre is at Sixth Avenue and Sixth Street. For more on the music program, check out www.artscouncilnewwest.org.
