It’s billed as a “one-day music festival of epic bands playing sick sets,” and it’s coming to New Westminster.
Bully’s Studios, at 67 Sixth St., is playing host to Fallen Fest on Saturday, Feb. 23. Bands will offer up music from 1 p.m. until midnight.
Organizers note that they’re taking extra steps to provide a safe LGBTQ space, and a number of the bands are LGBTQ-positive.
“Please respect everyone at the show and feel free to express yourself, dress how you want and bring who you want,” says a Facebook event listing.
Among the bands set to perform is the Vancouver-based punky blues stoner fuzz-rock band Getaway Van, who’ll be releasing their self-titled debut album on the day of the show.
The band includes Derek Lionas and Charlie Coles on guitar and vocals, with drummer Devon Sutherland and Zack Fox on bass and vocals.
“With three different songwriters, we always have some new vibe or feel to each song, so it’s always changing – song structures, vocal styles, etc.,” the band says in a press release. “One thing that has kind of stayed with us is the heavily distorted guitars. We play with a lot of fuzz, always geeking out on pedals and amplifiers.”
Getaway Van’s album features the single Lord I’ve Been Running, “foot-to-the-floor rock’n’roll that shakes rooms like a straight piped V8,” as the press release says.
