Word nerds of New West, unite.
The Royal City Literary Arts Society has a couple of upcoming events that you might be interested in. Coming up Thursday, March 12, it’s Tellers of Short Tales, the reading series that’s designed to engage fans of the short story genre with both emerging and published short story writers.
This month’s featured author is Crystal Hunt, who has written more than 35 books for readers of all ages, including children’s books, non-fiction and contemporary romance. There’s also an open mic, so bring a story to share if you like – or just stay and listen.
It runs from 6 to 8 p.m. in Room 413A at Anvil Centre, 777 Columbia St.
Then, on Saturday, March 28, Isabella Mori is leading a writing workshop called Haiku: 5-7-5 and Beyond. It’s set to run from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. in Room 417 at the Anvil Centre.
It’s an interactive workshop, where participants will read, write and experiment with haiku and learn more about the four Japanese grandmasters of the poetic form.
The workshop costs $15 for members, or $25 for non-members. Pre-register at [email protected].
