The Music at Queens concert series is continuing with five concerts coming up between February and May.

Up next is the West Coast Symphony, which takes to the stage on Saturday, Feb. 13 under the baton of Bujar Llapaj to perform two masterowkrs: Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake and Prokofiev’s Symphony No. 7, as well as Giuseppe Verdi’s La Forza del Destino.

The concert is at 7:30 p.m., and admission is by donation at the door.

On Saturday, March 12, the concert series will enter into the St. Patrick’s Day spirit with the Irish Wakers. The 7:30 p.m. concert will be performed bistro-style in the gym, with refreshments available while the five-person group offers up traditional Irish tunes.

In April, DonStewart comes to the stage with the music of Nat King Cole, Saturday, April 2 at 7:30 p.m.

On Saturday, April 30, the West Coast Symphony makes a return with violinist Nancy DiNovo performing the Korngold Violin Concerto, along with Brahms’ Symphony No. 4, under the baton of principal guest conductor Yariv Aloni.

Finally, in May, the Vancouver Men’s Chorus returns with a 7:30 p.m. concert on Sunday, May 15.

“Get a head start on your summer glow with the Vancouver Men’s Chorus as they sing and dance on down the road with classic car tunes and songs of the open road. Fans of this mainstage show will be rewarded with unexpected turns and dips into nostalgia along the way.”

Tickets for the concerts (except the West Coast Symphony, which is always by donation) are available through www.queensavenue.org: regular $20, students/seniors $15 and children $10.

The concerts take place Queens Avenue United Church, 529 Queens Ave., with parking available in the city hall parking lot one-half block down the hill.
