Marney-Rose Edge found inspiration in her own backyard for a new exhibition at The Gallery at Queen’s Park.

Natura runs at the gallery from Wednesday, Sept. 4 to Sunday, Sept. 29.

The exhibition features acrylic paintings, drawings and watercolours all on the theme of nature.

A press release about the exhibition notes that inspiration for the body of work began in Edge’s own backyard pond and spread to local ponds, waterways and nature reserves within our urban areas.

“Edge strives to highlight not only the beauty found in these places, but also to contrast it against the decay of vegetation that supports and sustains a rich tapestry of life, including animals, birds and their nests,” the release says. “The artist wants the viewer to feel surrounded by nature from a different point of view, a whole new experience.”

Edge will be on hand for an opening reception at the gallery on Sept. 4 from 6 to 8 p.m., and again for an artist talk on Sunday, Sept. 15 at 3 p.m. as part of the gallery’s Inter/action series.

The Gallery at Queen’s Park is open Wednesdays from 1 to 8 p.m., and Thursdays through Sundays from 1 to 5 p.m.
