WHAT’S IT ALL ABOUT?

Amabilis Singers presents its spring concert Into the Light, with a program that journeys from darkness into light.

“We will embrace the peaceful beauty of the night through works such as Gjeilo’s Serenity and Elder’s Lullaby, and view the splendour of the evening sky as depicted by composers Esenvald and Lauridsen,” says a write-up about the concert. “Day follows night with the arrival of dawn, that warm herald of life and love, all beautifully portrayed by the gifted pens of Eric Barnum, Dan Forrest, Howard Helvey and Arnold Schoenberg.”

WHO’S INVOLVED?

The Amabilis Singers are a 60-voice community choir based in New Westminster, with members of a wide range of ages and backgrounds, hailing from around the Lower Mainland. The group is directed by Burnaby’s Ramona Luengen and accompanied by pianist Ingrid Verseveldt.

They’ll be joined by violinist Andrea Siradze, who teams up with Verseveldt for a performance of Arvo Pärt’s Fratres.

THE DETAILS

The concert is on Saturday, April 9 at 8 p.m. at New Westminster Christian Reformed Church, 8255 13th Ave. in Burnaby.

Tickets are $20, or free for kids under 11. They’re available from choir members, at the door, or by calling 604-503-2074. See www.amabilissingers.org for more details.
