Writers, if you could use a little support in your literary endeavours, check out the Royal City Literary Arts Society. The group offerings ongoing workshops and programs for writers of all levels and styles.
Here are a couple of upcoming sessions:
PLAYING WITH WORDS
Struggling with writers’ block? Looking for a fun new way to generate ideas?
Join in at the next Wordplay session. The Royal City Literary Arts Society offers the monthly idea-generating writing prompt group in the community space at Buy-Low Foods in Westminster Centre.
The next session, hosted by Julia Schoennagel, is set for Wednesday, Feb. 7 from 7 to 9 p.m. It’s free, and you don’t need to sign up ahead – just drop in with your writing tools and paper, and get ready to start generating some first drafts.
See www.rclas.com for all the details.
MEMOIR WRITING
How do you write a memoir that will keep readers engaged?
That question will be explored at an upcoming workshop offered by the Royal City Literary Arts Society. Patricia Donahue leads Not-All-About-Me-Memoir: Keeping the Reader Engaged on Saturday, Feb. 10.
The workshop will include instruction, examination of at least one page-turner memoir and some hands-on writing exercises.
The workshop runs from 1:30 to 3:30 in Room 411 A at the Anvil Centre, 777 Columbia St. It costs $15 for members or $25 for non-members. See www.rclas.com, or email [email protected] to reserve a spot.
