Tatiana Bobko’s artistic philosophy is simple: everything is beautiful, everyone is creative, everything has potential and everything can be used to create art.
Bobko has a new exhibition, Introspection, running for the month of November at the Plaskett Gallery.
“I see beauty in the mundane, the random and the discarded,” says Bobko in an artist’s statement. “I see in terms of texture, pattern, shadows, light reflections, words, symbolism and unnoticed detail. I am in awe of the intricacy of nature and its many manifestations.”
Bobko, a Russian-Canadian visual artist and creative writer, Bobko has been a lifelong maker of art. Her favourite visual techniques are collage, drawing and photography – with the ultimate expression of combining all of them at one time.
She studied art in Russia and, since moving to Canada 22 years ago, has followed a variety of creative pursuits. In the past few years she has concentrated on working with children and adults as a visual arts instructor and taking part in classes and workshops in mixed media art, photography, graphic design, interior design, drawing and printmaking.
Currently she teaches Vision Boarding and Creativity Development/Spiritual (Therapeutic) Art.
“Art is spiritual to me, and I work in many different media to express what I feel and how I see the world,” she says.
