Plaskett Gallery hosts retrospective show

The Plaskett Gallery is celebrating the art of one of New Westminster’s own.

The gallery is presenting the Master Series, featuring the work of Jack Campbell.

Pieces of Colour, a retrospective of watercolour and mixed media work, is on at the gallery from April 1 to 28.

Campbell, who was raised in New Westminster, was a painter and graphic designer who graduated from the Vancouver School of Art (now Emily Carr University). Campbell also taught drawing and painting workshops at Emily Carr and was a full-time teacher at the Kootenay School of Art in Nelson.

He has had his work displayed around Western Canada and Washington state, and his work is in private and corporate collections throughout North America and Europe.

He was also the first artist-in-residence at New Westminster Secondary School.

You can check out Campbell’s work in the gallery at Massey Theatre, 735 Eighth Ave., during opening hours – 1 to 5 p.m. Tuesday to Saturday, or by appointment.
