Whether you’re an opera aficionado or a curious newcomer, this concert may be just the ticket.
A New Westminster singer is part of a concert presentation of The Elixir of Love, onstage in Vancouver on Saturday, Dec. 7. The comic opera by Gaetano Donizetti remains one of the composer’s most-loved operas. It tells the tale of Nemorino, a peasant who’s in love with Adina, a wealthy landowner.
Tenor Thomas Lamont – known in New West for past performances with Royal City Musical Theatre and the New Westminster Symphony Orchestra, among others – is onstage as Nemorino. Tamar Simon is Adina, with Geoffrey Schellenberg singing the roles of Belcore and Dulcamara.
Perri Lo is the pianist.
“This one-hour abridged opera with narration is great for first-time operagoers, and passionate opera lovers of Donizetti’s famous arias, duets and trios,” says a press release.
The performance is on Saturday, Dec. 7 at 7:30 p.m. at the Aberthau Community Centre, 4397 West Second Ave., Vancouver.
