It’s art at its best – in pop-up form.
The Arts Council of New Westminster and New West Artists are teaming up to present Potpourri, a pop-up art exhibition and sale this weekend at The Gallery at Queen’s Park.
The show features work in a variety of mediums, including watercolour, acrylic, photography and collage.
New West Artists is a group of visual artists, both hobbyists and full-time professionals, who pool their knowledge and ideas to help each other.
“I am extremely pleased that New West Artists will be exhibiting at our gallery and will be launching our brand new pop-up exhibitions,” said Stephen O’Shea, executive director of the Arts Council of New Westminster, in a press release. “We are continuing to find more creative ways to increase access to the gallery, and partnering with New West Artists is the perfect way for us to bring more art to the community of New Westminster.”
The release notes that pop-up galleries are becoming increasingly popular; the temporary locations are a unique opportunity for artists, designers and photographers to showcase their work to a new audience.
Artists taking part in the show include Eileen Pick, Lisa Lawrence, Virginia Railton, Janet Kvammen, Kay Klyne, Richard Klyne, Julia Schoennagel, Carol Rose, Tony Bryan, Donna Ross, Teresa Morton, Robert Jost, Elena Zhukova, Barbara Wendzich and more.
Poutpourri is on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 12 and 13, running from 1 to 5 p.m. both days. The opening artists’ reception, open to everyone, is on Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m.
