An upcoming exhibition at the Gallery at Queen’s Park is exploring the housing affordability crisis through art.

Iris Mes-Low’s Eulogy on the Family Home runs March 7 to 25 at the gallery, with an opening reception on Wednesday, March 7 from 6 to 8 p.m.

Mes-Low has created a series of paintings and computer-manipulated giclées based on houses in New Westminster – exploring the idea that what is a possibility for some is a pipe dream for many and a reality for few.

“Mes-Low’s subjects are represented in a whimsical manner that expresses the uniqueness of houses in the area, and are placed in reverse and in a fantasy setting,” a press release says.

Mes-Low is a Netherlands-born artist who lives in New Westminster and works full-time in her studio at 100 Braid Street Studios. She has been painting and exhibiting her work for more than 30 years.

The gallery is open Wednesdays through Sundays, from 1 to 5 p.m., with late-night openings on Wednesdays until 8 p.m. See www.artscouncilnewwest.orgfor details.
