The theatre is partnering with local artists and companies to offer a variety of low-cost arts workshops for youth.

“These workshops are meant to encourage youth to feel the Massey belongs to them as much as to the rest of the community,” explains a press release.

Coming up this week (on Friday, March 24) is an improv theatre workshop offered by Monster Theatre. It’s set to run 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at a cost of $25. That workshop is running in conjunction with Monster Theatre’s Adaptation of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, which is onstage March 25.

Register for the workshop at www.ticketsnw.ca.

Massey Theatre is also teaming up with Momentum Youth Arts to run a free, five-session visual art workshop. The Youth and Reconciliation workshop will give youth a chance to learn indigenous art techniques, while discussing issues of reconciliation and cultural appropriation.

That workshop is running in connection with an upcoming Momentum youth art exhibition at the Anvil Centre’s Community Art Space. The workshop runs March 29 to 31 and April 6 and 7, 3:30 to 5 p.m.  It’s free, and youth can register by emailing [email protected]
