IN THEIR WORDS

The In Their Words series – which features writers sharing the work of some of their own favourite writers – continues online on Thursday, Sept. 16 at 7 p.m.

Ruth Kozak hosts an evening with three feature presenters: Bonnie Quan Symons, presenting the work of Canadian poet and novelist Evelyn Lau; Robert Martens, presenting the work of English poet William Blake; and Lauwo George, presenting the work of South African-based novelist Yewande Omotoso.

The Zoom room will open at 6:45 p.m. RSVP by email to wynnbexton2@gmail.com or secretary@rclas.com to receive the Zoom link.

TELLERS OF SHORT TALES

The next online instalment of the reading series devoted to short stories is set for Thursday, Sept. 23 from 6 to 8 p.m. Angela Kenyon hosts this edition, which features author Leah Ranada. Ranada’s stories have been published in On Spec, Room, Santa Ana River Review, Scarlet Leaf Review, emerge 2013, eastlit.com, and elsewhere. Her debut novel, The Cine Star Salon, is described as "a graphic and engaging depiction of the importance of women’s work and the loyalties that connect friends across oceans." It’s coming out in October and is available for pre-order.

The Zoom room for the event opens at 5:30 p.m. for open mic sign-up; you’re invited to share your own short works. (Space is limited).

To attend, respond on the Facebook event page or RSVP by email to secretary@rclas.com. You will be sent the Zoom link via email or Facebook message.
