The Arts Council of New Westminster is venturing into the world of Jane Austen for its next Last Mondays at the Movies presentation. The film series continues at Massey Theatre on Monday, March 27 with Whit Stillman’s Love & Friendship.

The Arts Council of New Westminster is venturing into the world of Jane Austen for its next Last Mondays at the Movies presentation.

The film series continues at Massey Theatre on Monday, March 27 with Whit Stillman’s Love & Friendship.

The movie, based on Austen’s novella Lady Susan, follows the tale of the beautiful young widow Lady Susan Vernon (Kate Beckinsale), who has arrived at her in-laws’ estate to wait out colourful rumours about her dalliances. While there, she decides to find a husband for herself and for her reluctant debutante daughter, Frederica (Morfydd Clark).

It screens at 7:30 p.m. at the Massey, 735 Eighth Ave. Tickets are $9 general, or $8 for seniors and students. You can buy in advance at www.ticketsnw.ca or pay cash at the door.

Coming up in April will be the April 24 screening of Denial, starring Rachel Weisz, Timothy Spall and Tom Wilkinson.
