The team from Haunted History BC will be sharing story at Ghostly Tales from Beyond.

The Royal City Literary Arts Society is inviting community members to enjoy an evening of storytelling featuring two spooky sisters.

Sisters Gina Armstrong and Victoria Vancek, co-founders of the award-winning Haunted History BC, are the featured authors at the Royal City Literary Art Society’s upcoming Tellers of Short Tales. Ghostly Tales from Beyond is the theme of the free event.

“As authors and historians, they blend their passion for the paranormal with a deep interest in history. This allows them to provide a rich, contextual background to the haunted locations they explore,” said a notice about the event. “Gina and Victoria’s ability to weave historical facts with ghost stories makes their content engaging and educational. They bring the past to life in a way that captivates their audience.”

According to the Royal City Literary Arts Society, the “spooky sisters” concentrate on British Columbia, uncovering and preserving the haunted history of small communities that might otherwise be overlooked.

“Their work has been acknowledged through various awards, which speaks to the quality and impact of their storytelling and historical preservation efforts,” said the RCLAS notice.

“Gina and Victoria actively involve the community in their projects, often collaborating with local historians, residents, and other paranormal enthusiasts to gather stories and evidence. Their unique approach not only entertains but also educates, making them a distinctive presence in the field of paranormal investigation and historical research.”

Ghostly Tales from Beyond is on Thursday, Sept. 26 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the main branch of the New Westminster Public Library, 716 Sixth Ave. (in a downstairs room, which is accessible by elevator.)

Time permitting, the Tellers of Short Tales session will also include an open-mic opportunity for community members. Everyone is welcome to attend the free event.

“Come to listen! Bring a friend! Bring a short story/spooky poem to share on open mic,” said the notice.

Royal City Literary Arts Society hosts the Tellers of Short Tales events to engage fans of the short story genre with emerging and published short story writers.
