An acclaimed harpist is returning home to New Westminster for the next Music at Queens concert.
The concert series continues Saturday, Nov. 18 with a performance by Deborah Nyack, a.k.a. Harp Angel.
Nyack, who was born and raised in New Westminster, is now based in Alberta, where she is the resident harpist at the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel and the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise.
When it comes to qualifications, Nyack is as pedigreed as they come: she trained at the Eastman School of Music at the Juilliard School in New York, the Royal Academy of Music in London and at the Banff Centre for the Arts, where she is on the faculty.
She performs worldwide – having played in such famous concert halls as Carnegie Hall and the Kennedy Center - and has five bestselling solo CDs to her credit.
For her Music at Queens concert, she’ll be joined by singer-guitarist Vanessa Cardui and Bonnie Lawrence on flute and mandolin. They will offer up a fusion of Celtic-classical and contemporary music.
The Music at Queens concert series takes place at Queens Avenue United Church, 529 Queens Ave. Tickets for the show are $20 regular, $15 for students and seniors, and $10 for children. The concert starts at 7:30 p.m.
