A documentary exploring the role of Indigenous musicians in North American pop culture is screening at Massey Theatre this month.
RUMBLE: The Indians Who Rocked the World is onscreen as part of the Last Mondays at the Movies series Jan. 29 at 7:30 p.m.
It explores the a previously missing chapter in the history of North American music, featuring such icons as Mildred Bailey, Link Wray, Jimi Hendrix, Buffy Sainte-Marie, Robbie Robertson and more.
It was inspired by the Smithsonian Institution exhibit Up Where We Belong: Native Musicians in Popular Culture, created by Tim Johnson and Stevie Salas for the National Museum of the American Indian.
The movie was directed by Catherine Bainbridge and co-directed by Alfonso Maiorana.
