The Arts Council of New Westminster is giving a helping hand to a Douglas College student.

Each year, the arts council awards the Hilda Cliffe Scholarship through the Douglas College Foundation, supporting a student furthering their studies in the arts.

This year’s recipient is Natalie Peters, a first-year student who is studying acting in the language, literature and performing arts program at the college.

A press release from the arts council notes that Peters has been taking the bus from White Rock in to Douglas College every day, but, thanks to this award, she’ll be moving to New West in the fall. Peters will be onstage with her fellow students in the fall of 2019 and winter of 2020 at Douglas College’s Laura C. Muir Performing Arts Theatre.

If you want to help the arts council in its efforts to help students, why not donate? The group takes online donations of any size – you can visit the website at www.artscouncilnewwest.org, or find its Canada Helps page via a direct link at www.tinyurl.com/NWArtsCouncilBursary.
