Bridge Musicians International are bringing string quartets to the stage in the next Music at Queens concert.

Kevin Park is no stranger to the local stage - some 13 years ago, he was the featured cellist in an On the Rise concert in the Music at Queens concert series in New Westminster.

Now he's bringing a group of top-notch professionals together to present the next concert in that very same series.

Bridge Musicians International is in the spotlight on Saturday, Feb. 21 at 7:30 p.m. at Queens Avenue United Church.

In 2012, Park formed Bridge Musicians with a mission to bring classical music to new audiences in the Vancouver area. The musicians, both local and international, perform concerts around the Lower Mainland, exposing audiences to classical chamber music.

The Music at Queens concert will feature Brahms' Piano Quartet No. 1 in G minor and Schumann's Piano Quartet in E-flat major.

Park will be joined by fellow cellist Luke Kim, along with violinists Ken Lin and Ji In Kim, pianist Scott Meek and violist Manti Poon.

Park, a New Westminster resident and graduate of Burnaby South Secondary School, began his early musical training in Seoul, South Korea, and pursued his degree in music performance at the University of North Texas.

A bio on his website notes that he has since pursued an international career as a soloist and orchestral cellist, serving as principal cellist for such ensembles as the B.C. Music Educators Association Orchestra, the University of North Texas Symphony and Chamber Orchestra, the Winspear Opera Orchestra and the Pilgrim Orchestra.

He is also a faculty member and teacher at schools including the Pacific Coast School of Music in New West and Concordia International in Coquitlam.
