New Westminster residents are invited to turn out for two free art programs at the Anvil Centre this weekend.

On Saturday, Nov. 24, artist and printmaker Chris Dunnett will lead a session in the art of intaglio line engraving. You can stop in to Studio 411 anytime between 2:30 and 4:30 p.m., and Dunnett will be available to answer questions, demonstrate the technique and show samples of his work.

Then, on Sunday, Nov. 25, Katherine Soucie leads a session in rust dyeing. Soucie, who’s the current City of New Westminster solid waste and recycling artist in residence, will lead the workshop from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in Studio 413. Participants will learn how to produce permanent prints and unique designs using rusty objects. All materials are included, but you can bring in your own rusty items to experiment with if you wish. The workshop is for those aged 16 and up, and you need to sign up ahead: call 604-527-4647 or see www.tinyurl.com/RustPrintingAnvil to sign up.

The Anvil Centre is at 777 Columbia St. See www.anvilcentre.com for more on its events and programs.
