An acclaimed Canadian pianist is onstage in New Westminster this weekend.
Pianist Jane Coop will be joined by four musicians from the Seattle Symphony in the next concert presented by the Vancouver Chamber Music Society. It's at the Anvil Theatre (777 Columbia St.) on Sunday, May 28 at 3 p.m.
The musicians will offer up a program that includes Hayden's String Quartet in D Major, Op. 50, No. 6 ("The Frog"), Ravel's String Quartet in F Major and Brahms' Piano Quintet in F Minor, Op. 34.
Coop won first prize in CBC's Young Performers' Competition at the age of 19 and went on to launch an international career, with recital debuts at Wigmore Hall and Carnegie Hall. She has been featured in concerto performances with symphonies across Canada, and her love of chamber music has led her to collaborate with musicians from around the world.
She has been appointed to the Order of British Columbia and the Order of Canada.
Tickets are $38 plus fees for regular admission, and $20 for students. You can find tickets and more information online.
