Whether you want to be inspired or entertained, there’s something for you in New Westminster this weekend. Here are our top 5 suggestions for Jan. 17 to 19:

1.  Get inspired at Century House, which is hosting Inspiration Day 2014 on Saturday, Jan 18 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This year’s event features presentations on topics such as technology (it’s not a four-letter word), life mapping (inspiration through reflection), brain fitness, mediation and mindfulness. A healthy interactive lunch and a keynote speech by Dr. Davidicus Wong, who offers seven wellsprings of inspiration to get you through the day, are also part of the day’s fun. Tickets are $5 and available at Century House, 620 Eighth St.

2.  Enjoy some great entertainment at the Musicians United in a Show of Hearts, in support of Variety. Jerry Doucette, R&B Allstars, the Mojo Stars, the Simpson Brothers and Taylor Clarke will perform on Saturday, Jan. 18 at the Columbia Theatre, 530 Columbia St. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the show is at 7 p.m. Tickets are $40 (plus tax and service fees) and are available at www.thecolum

3.  Drop by River Market, where this weekend’s features include an Artisans Fair (Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.) and a visit from Royal City Farmers Market (Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.) River Market is located at 810 Quayside Dr.

4.  Check out a diverse range of musical offerings at the Heritage Grill, where The Top Drawers (rock) perform on Friday, Jan. 17, Lesismore (vintage blues and pop) takes the stage on Saturday, and Sarah Kennedy (jazz) entertains the crowd on Sunday. Friday and Saturday’s shows start at 8 p.m., while Sunday’s gets underway at noon. The Heritage Grill is at 447 Columbia St. in downtown New Westminster.
